Just when you thought it was safe to write “Obi-Wan Kenobi” on your calendar in Sharpie… Disney’s gone and changed the premiere date on us. There’s a good consolation prize, though! We have to wait two more days for the show, which now lands on Disney+ on Friday, May 27th. But we get two episodes instead of just one.

Obi-Wan himself, Ewan McGregor, made the announcement in a short video:

The new series no longer shares a premiere date with the original Star Wars, but it overlaps with something else: That weekend is Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, the four-day, once-again-in-person experience of all things Star Wars. It kicks off on May 26th, and while few guests have been announced, it would only make sense for the event to highlight the latest Star Wars series.

Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place roughly ten years after Revenge of the Sith, when Obi-Wan is still reeling from the downfall of his former apprentice, Anakin Skywalker. Hayden Christensen will return as Darth Vader, and Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse reprise their prequel roles as Owen and Beru Lars. The rest of the cast is largely made up of new faces, some in roles familiar to watchers of various Star Wars animated series: Rupert Friend is the Grand Inquisitor; Sung Kang is Fifth Brother; Moses Ingram is the inquisitor Reva; it’s not entirely clear yet who Kumail Nanjiani and Indira Varma are playing.

The first two episodes of the six-episode season premiere on Disney+ on Friday, May 27th.
